Lukashenko: Good salaries for good professionals

26.10.2010
BOROVLYANY, 26 October (BelTA) – Salaries of medics should be primarily determined by their professional skills, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he visited the National Children Oncology and Hematology Center in Borovlyany on 26 October. The head of state underlined that salaries for medics will not be equal across the board. “Yes, we still have problems with young medics. We should think about what we can do to help them. If we don’t help young medics, there will be no experienced doctors,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “There are good and bad medics but most of our people are normal. Medics cannot be bad if they operate in normal conditions. When we discussed salaries, we thought long and hard about it. Paying equal salaries is not an option. Outstanding medics should get outstanding salaries while average medics should get average salaries. Those who do not perform well cannot get salaries that outstanding medics get,” said Alexander Lukashenko. In particular, about 50 types of surgeries have been shortlisted in Belarus to entitle the medics that perform them to considerable cash rewards.
