Gazprom pays Belarus $228m for gas transit services

24.06.2010
MOSCOW, 24 June (BelTA) – Gazprom has wired $228 million to Belarus for gas transit services, at the rate of $1.45 per 1,000 cubic meters, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told media. According to him, Belarus has fully paid off its debts to Gazprom for Russian gas. A decision has been taken to resume the gas flow to Belarus in full volume. However, some issues in the Belarusian-Russian gas relations remain unsettled including the issue of the transit rate, Sergei Kupriyanov said. The protocol signed by Gazprom and Beltransgaz envisages a possibility to increase the gas transit rate. Yet a special addendum to the contract should be signed for that, Sergei Kupriyanov added.
