Belarus to partake in SCO Games

Belarusian athletes are going to take part in the 8th International Issyk-Kul Sports Games of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The event will take place in Chopon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan) on September 5-12, BelTA learnt from press secretary of the CIS Intergovernmental Humanitarian Cooperation Fund Alexander Kalugin. This year partaking in the Games will be SCO participating states – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as non-members of the organization – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus and Ukraine. Issyk-Kul shore will gather nearly two thousand athletes. The 15-sport competitions will be divided into two age categories: under and over 35, and also between the families of the participants. The Games will include a scientific conference “Modern Physical Culture and Sports” to discuss the issues related to the development of sports and physical education, their place in a modern society, healthy way of life, the role of the international sports, athletes and sports figures in the development of friendship between the nations.
