Belarus offers new agricultural projects to Venezuela

MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – Belarusian scientists plan to implement new joint agricultural projects with Venezuela, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian-Venezuelan center for sci-tech cooperation of the BNTU Politekhnik technological cluster. The two sides are discussing possible contracts including in the production of drugs to diagnose tuberculosis among animals, development and manufacture of agricultural vehicles and equipment, comprehensive monitoring over soil quality in order to enhance the efficiency of growing crops vital for Venezuela. The Belarusian experts are getting ready to offer Venezuela cooperation in energy. The matter concerns synthesis of catalytic agents based on carbonic nanotubes for application in fuel cells. Belarusian and Venezuelan specialists have already signed contracts on nine sci-tech projects. The projects are mainly related to the agro-industrial complex. National geneticists have plans to work out DNA probe assay methods for economically valuable genes in order to use them in breeding agricultural plants and animals, share experience in improving bio-security system. Besides, Belarusian biologists are expected to develop an integrated biofertilizer for cultivating legume crops in Venezuela. The scientists of the two countries are also supposed to implement geoinformation technologies for preventing ecological risks related to soil erosion in the coastland of Venezuela.
