Belarus, Germany to open biomass research center

MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – A German-Belarusian research center will open at the basis of the Volma Center for Education and Research at the International Sakharov Environmental University in May 2012, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee. The project was discussed at the recent meeting between Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Igor Voitov and Consul Ambassador of the Embassy of Germany in Belarus Peter Dettmar. Partaking in the project will be Leipzig Biomass Research Institute and the Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology in Oberhausen on the German behalf, and International Sakharov Environmental University and the NASB Sci-Tech Center for Agricultural Mechanization on Belarus’ behalf. The center will conduct methodological procedures on biomass use, strategies for biogas application.
