Victoria Azarenka rolls into Family Circle Cup third round in Charleston
In the second-round of the Family Circle Cup Victoria Azarenka seeded 13 defeated Tiantian Sun of China 7-6, 6-0 to set up a match against Russian Elena Dementieva (seed No 8). Another Belarusian Olga Govortsova lost to Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 6-7, 0-6. In the doubles Olga Govortsova and Edina Gallovits of Romania scored a victory over Medina Garrigues and Ruano Pascual 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. Victoria Azarenka and her doubles partner Elena Vesnina of Russia defeated Sorana Cirstea from Romania and Ayumi Morita of Japan in the first round. Tatiana Poutchek and Russia’s Anastasia Rodionova also got to a good start in the doubles by defeating Dominika Cybulkoba and Jeanette Husarova.
