Lithuanian President arrives in Belarus

OSHMYANY DISTRICT, 20 October (BelTA) – President Dalia Grybauskaite of the Republic of Lithuania has arrived in Belarus on a working visit, BelTA has learnt. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is set to meet with his Lithuanian counterpart on 20 October. Trade and economic cooperation will highlight both the private and extended talks of the two presidents. The presidents are expected to exchange opinions on the issues of current importance and sign several bilateral documents. The Belarusian President paid working visits to Lithuania in 1995 and 2009. During his visit to Vilnius in September 2009 Alexander Lukashenko invited the President of Lithuania to make a return visit to Belarus. Lithuania is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus. In 2009 the bilateral trade made up $565.6 million, 66.3% from 2008. In Belarus there are 410 companies with the Lithuanian capital. There are over 200 Belarus-funded companies in Lithuania.
