Independence Day is a symbol of moral consolidation of Belarusian society

MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) – The Independence Day is a symbol of moral consolidation of the Belarusian society, the chairman of the board of the Belarusian public association, Ecological Initiative, Yuri Soloviev, told BelTA. “The fact that we feel we are one nation and cerebrate this day contributes to the moral consolidation of Belarusian society, helps us strengthen our statehood and position ourselves as a self-sufficient and developing nation,” according to Yuri Soloviev. He took note of the special importance of the Independence Day of Belarus. “Such day is very important for any nation. For us it is especially true because the Belarusian statehood is young. This day emphasizes that Belarus is a sovereign state and independent nation. The Independence Day is equally important for younger and older generations, and resonates with every citizen of the country, Yuri Soloviev said. “For senior citizens it is associated with the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis, post-war revival. The Independence Day gives younger generations a feeling that they do not live in some abstract country but in Belarus, which is a European state where social interests of all state of the society are protected,” he said
