Economic cooperation is the priority of Belarus’ foreign policy, Alexander Lukashenko says

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Trade and economic issues are the priority of Belarus’ foreign policy, said Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko as he received credentials from foreign ambassadors on 14 June. “Belarus wants to facilitate the access of Belarusian goods to the traditional and new markets, attract modern technologies and investments, and diversify energy and raw materials supply chains,” said the Belarusian President. Since Belarusian economy is open and export-oriented, we place a great emphasis on trade and economic cooperation in international relations. “Given the geopolitical location and historic and cultural background of our country, we seek to develop a well-balanced and constructive interaction with many partners throughout the world,” said the Belarusian President. Apart from that, Alexander Lukashenko noted that despite being one of the UN co-founders, Belarus is a very young independent state. But the country has already proved itself a serious and responsible member of the global community, which has been actively involved in the settlement of the most pressing problems on the international agenda. “We have initiated the elaboration of a global plan to fight human trafficking within the UN, and we have been strongly advocating equal access of all countries to new and renewable energy technologies,” said the President.
