Belarusian media forum to open on 22 June

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ International Media Forum “Partnership for the Future: Patriotism, Spirituality, Unity” opens up today with the participation of Belarusian and foreign journalists and representatives of the CIS community of experts, BelTA learnt from the department of printed media and external relations of the Information Ministry of Belarus.

The media forum will mark the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and the 20th anniversary of the CIS foundation.

The program of the forum will be quite eventful. A wreath ceremony at the monument in Victory Square and a visit to the Stalin Line fortifications are scheduled for 22 June. On the same day reporters will get familiar with a new program, Memory of the Heart, by the Belarusian dance company Khoroshki. The BSU Institute of Journalism will hold Summer School of Journalism on 23 June which will include master classes from leading Belarusian and foreign journalists. The central event will be a plenary session at the National Library on 24 June for thematic discussions “Republic of Belarus in the light of current geopolitical processes”, “Civilizational Unity as a Ground for Sovereign Development of the Commonwealth Member States”, “A New Role of Mass Media in Forming Political Realities”. On 25 June the forum participants will visit the castle complexes in Mir and Nesvizh. Reporters are also expected to adopt a resolution on a special role of mass media in the life of a state.

This year the media forum is supposed to welcome reporters from 21 countries including Belarus.

The Belarus’ International Media Forum is organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, Belarusian Union of Journalists with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, the Union State Permanent Committee, the CIS Executive Committee, ministries of foreign affairs, culture and defense, the Minsk City Hall, the Minsk oblast executive committee, the Eurasian Television and Radio Academy, and the EcooM analytical center.
