Belarus, IMF to consider new programme in autumn

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarus and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue the negotiations on a new programme in autumn, Chris Jarvis, IMF Mission Chief to Belarus, told media on 25 May. During the next several months the IMF mission will keep in touch with the Belarusian authorities. The IMF mission plans to come back to Belarus in autumn to assess the economic situation in the country and decide whether Belarus needs a new programme with the IMF, according to Chris Jarvis. In his words, if the government and the National Bank of Belarus are interested in a new programme with the IMF, the fund is ready to provide necessary assistance and develop a programme “that will include well-thought decisions for the economic policy development”.
