Belarus’ export of transport services up 39.9% in January-April

MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – In January-April 2010 Belarus exported $921.1 million worth of transport services, up 39.9% over the same period of 2009, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus. Freight transportation made up $813.2 million, up 46.1%, passenger transportation totaled $48.7 million, up 5.2%. Pipeline transfer accounts for 29.3% of the total export of transport services. It is followed by railway (27.7%), marine (18%) and motor transport (19%). In January-April 2010 the country imported $363.5 million worth of transport services, up 67.1% over the same period last year. Freight transportation reached $285.3 million, up 1.8 times, passenger transportation - $30.4 million (up 3.4%). The import of transport services includes marine (41.3%), railway (30.9%) and motor transport (17.7%). In January-April 2010 the foreign trade surplus in transport services stood at $557.6 million (in January-April 2009 it was $440.7 million).
