Belarus, Czech Republic sign sci-tech cooperation program

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The State Science and Technology Committee (SSTC) of Belarus and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic signed a program on sci-tech cooperation at a thematic session within the Belarus-EU innovation cooperation forum on 16 November, BelTA has learnt. According to SSTC Chairman Igor Voitov, Belarus is interested in developing partnership with the Czech Republic in nanotechnologies and fiber optics, joint innovative projects. “Our countries have been successfully cooperating in personnel training for technological and innovative activities,” he noted. Igor Voitov emphasized the importance of Belarusian-Czech joint projects in the sci-tech sector. “The Czech Republic has been showing a rapid development, with an emphasis on new approaches and advanced technologies. Belarus has good development projects. The two countries will only benefit from bilateral cooperation,” Igor Voitov said. The Belarusian science and technology committee also shows a keen interest in joint industrial projects, for example in mechanic engineering, motor-car construction, electronics and light industry. Besides, the committee plans to set up a number of companies to develop medical equipment jointly with the companies of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Igor Voitov invited Czech companies to partake in the project as well. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Belarus Jiri Karas noted that the signing of the sci-tech cooperation program would bring the Belarusian-Czech relations onto a new level and help find new areas for bilateral cooperation.
